Description

Parcel is an atmospheric block-pushing puzzle game where your goal is to solve interlocking laser puzzles by using the unique abilities of different characters. Switch between members of your team of postpeople and make your way through mind benders in a charming, ridiculous cyberpunk future!

History

The first prototype of Parcel started out in December 2012 as a coursework project of designer Pyry Takkunen and graphics artist Ville Valtiala, both students attending the North Karelia College game development programme of in Outokumpu, Finland. A year after the original demo was made, Polar Bunny expressed interest in helping make the project into a full-fledged game, called up Takkunen and Valtiala and added the necessary missing pieces to the development team. On Thursday, 26th of June 2014, Parcel was launched on Greenlight and, for the first time, shown to the general public. The game passed Greenlight in the first possible batch, and a co-publishing agreement was made with fellow Finnish developer Frozenbyte, known for its award-winning Trine franchise. On Thursday, 26th of March 2015, Parcel was launched on Steam Early Access, enabling the player community to play their part in the game which was designed as a community-driven puzzle toolset from the beginning. Despite overwhelmingly positive feedback, visibility was a major issue and Early Access sales were abysmal. This meant going with Plan B: incomplete features present in the Early Access version were removed and the game was released as a full game on April the 22nd, 2015.
